Turkey cannot possibly open border with Armenia

IPB Image

“Turkish government has not changed its policy regarding opening the border with Armenia,” Erkan Ozaran, first deputy of Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan told the APA.

Mr. Ozaran said Turkey closed the border with Armenia after the latter occupied Nagorno Garabagh. So, Turkey cannot possibly open the border with Armenia until it withdraws from the occupied Azerbaijani territories.
“Turkey’s position on this matter is clear. So, if someone in Turkey stands for the opening of the borders, it should not be regarded as the government’s official position,” he said. /APA/

talk about a pointless post...

you simply said a whole lot of nothing.

btw, lets be clear on a point, there is no 'occupation' of azeri lands, there is 'liberation' got it?
these have always been armenian lands, and if there was ever an occupation it was by azerbaijan from 1952 to 1990.

i am half irish half armenian, ireland is free from england, but armenia has yet to be free from the clutches of turkey

HAHAHAHAHA

boy are you living 15 years back.

ever heard of the 1989 referrendum? oh thats true, your in turkey, the land where you colonised mexico! read a REAL book!

98% voted cesession. so basically, NKR is its OWN republic! there is no armenian army occupying karabakh, those there is the NKR's self defense force. wich comprised of the volunteers and peasents who decided not to die like sheep.

azerbaijan calls it armenian occupied because it refuses to accept that karabakh just plain old DOESNT WANT TO BE PART OF AZERCRAPJAN!!!
they refuse to understand that noble karabakhtsi's dont want to be part of that disgrace of a nation!

and for god's sakes! who cares about your blockade...you know who's really paying for it? YOU ARE!
our economy is BLOSSOMING! we are getting better and better every day! support from more and more countreys is turning to US!

get that through you head turk, in the fight for justice, you CANT win!

hosank, im gald to have this border cut off. it only makes them look stupid, our economy is blossoming (could get better if it was open but were still on the right track). i mean, i wouldnt want to trade or have economical ties with a communist or facist country...so whats the difference? id rather armenia stay away from dishonest countrys...and you cant get more dishonest and bloodthirsty then turkey!

actually, economys would blossom even more in armenia, as well as eastern turkey and even azerbaijan if the border opens...

right now, armenia can survive with the blockade, so what is the point of keeping it?...

im simply looking at this on a turkish standpoint..

you are right hosank, it has made a small difference in armenia's growth rate but the real reasons behind are not really economic at all i think.

it is more the fact that turkey and azeri are powerless to really do anything ELSE. sure the flow of hard currency to armenia from turkey is a small bonus but armenia would probably BUY more from turkey then it would sell to turkey.

all it has really done at the end of the day is strengthen the ties to iran anyway. what a total failure of a policy.

i don't want to streighthen ties with iran, iranians are islamist commies....

i actually would rather trade with georga, or at least, an opening to the world, this would benifit armenia greatly, trust me, i was there this summer, and i painted a fence with turkish made paint, it came in through georga, it would have been much cheaper for the turks, as well as for the armenians, to have simply sold it over the border. i could litteraly see turkey from where i was

georgia will fall in not too long, too many internal problems, abkazia south ossetia, province of almost entirely armenians, independant sympathies around Batumi. a complete and total cluster ######.

like the rest of the region it is a nexus of many cultures and faiths and that always makes for a volitile situation.

any form of reliance on that nation as a gatewqy to the outside world is a folley of judgment on the part of armenias government. this is reflected also in the balance of trade between the two nations. the fact that they are closer to america and turkey another.

you are quite right, but remember this, georgia is the ONLY WAY OUT....so we have no choice...but i think georgia is much more stable now than it was years ago..the armenians in the south are actually the only cultureal minority that are not jumpy....and when georgia understands that its future lies hand in hand with that of armenia, we will start to see real progress.

on the other hand ,that is why i keep arguing that turkey and azerbaijan should open their borders...it would benifit everyone...as i said about the paint, it was turkish made paint bought in georgia, used in armenia, if it was sold directly to armenia, there would be much more money left in the turkish manifacturers pocket, but you know turks...they can't see profit if it hit them in the face
