Turkey says gunmen attacked guards near its embassy in Baghdad

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

ISTANBUL, Turkey - Turkey's Foreign Ministry says gunmen shot and injured a Turkish police officer near the country's embassy in Baghdad.

The ministry says unidentified gunmen opened fire on a group officers guarding the embassy. The injured officer was being flown home to Turkey on a military airplane.

It was not clear how badly hurt the officer was in Saturday's attack.

LoL, actually the guards were like Swats that were escorting the Embassador and were entrapped instantly.

I am sure if the Turk consulate/embassy was in Erbil Kurdistan region, there wouldn't even be a need for a Turkish guard.

There are tens of thousand Turkish labourers in Kurdistan region, and despite the high tensions they are being treated very well.

Most countries' representatives are in Erbil instead of Baghdad, like Russia, Iran, France, Germany
