irlandahye, what the turks are refering to isthe Xinjiang province of china, which is also called 'east turkestan'. the turkic peoples of the globe claim it to be part of the turkic homeland, however only about 40.5% of the population is of Uyghur descent.

the chinese settle here many han chinese the uyghur dont like this and in 1991 was in xinjiang riots but the chinese oppress in violent and many uyghurs are killed.

Uighuristan (Eastern Turkistan) was invaded in 1944 . Unfortunately, weak and poor Turks could not cope with incoming Commy-Chinese (russian based) invasion.

It is East Turkistan, just chinese call it "Xinjiang".

ithink that the chinese also call it turkestan unofficially...

and come on, i cannot believe what i am hearing. the same people who on other pages argue incessantly about how the land was 'once armenian' but not anymore, and it's too bad, are the ones saying that xinjiang was once the land of the huns, some 2000 years ago, so therefore, it should be an independent turkic republic?

Go and try to get informed about population data of Eastern Turkestan before Chinese invasion.
Han settlers brought by Chinese gov. change the demographics of Eastern Turkestan, but nothing can change the fact that it ( Xinjiang which means "new" borderland) is a Chinese occupied/invaded part of a Greater Turkestan .
Have you ever heard of Russian Turkestan and Chinese Turkestan?
