Unfortunatly this link is in Turkish and only for those who can read Turkish icon_sad.gif

He is 96 years old and one of the most loved actors. He plays at theaters and owns an art magazine which is 50 years old. A living history.

I just don't get it. If I was too worried about the safety of my family, I'd just go somewehere safe. You need to admit that they are not as unhappy as you guys like to think.

lol, wow, you just displayed the logic of a 10 year old.
in case you havn't noticed, some 80% of armenians in constantinople HAVE left, because they were worried about the safety of their family, as you say. but for the rest...why would they leave the city that their ancesters have called home for 700 years? they practically built the city. when they have their businesses set up and working for generations and all that. that is exactly what the turks want...make them feel uncomfortable untill they leave, that is what happened to the 1 million greeks that still lived in constantinople after the greco-turkish war. today they are about 5000.

certainly it is not like turks are always running around bashing them every day, if they keep a low profile, they will have little problem. but if they dare say they are armenian with pride...they will be attacked, by young turks, who just cannot seem to comprehend that these evil minorities, the greeks and armenians are NOT the outsiders that they so hate, but it is they themselves that are. that is of course, for the turkish nationalists who are not actually of greco-armenian origin without knowing it.
