Istanbul has always been marked by contrasts—old and new, east and west, secular and sacred. Now, as it attempts to bridge the gulf between Europe and the Muslim world, the city's split personality is more seductive than ever.

God how I missed Bosphorus and her fish restaurants. I have to go there next week.

Awww what the heck, I’ll come pay a visit. See the beautiful Greek temples, Armenian churches. Maybe Hittite ruins or the Roman library of Ephesus. Or all those Turkish mosques which are an identical replica of the Byzantine Hagia Sophia. Or maybe I’ll come appreciate the Persian influenced architecture of the Seljuk Turks.

Well , neither Sulaymaniah Mosque nor Blue Mosque is replicas of Haghia Sophia .

Sultans have decided to construct a huger temple whose diameters of domes are greater than the Haghia Sophia's dome .

That is all , there is no similarities between those 3 temples.

“For almost 500 years the principal mosque of Istanbul, Hagia Sophia served as a model for many of the Ottoman mosques such as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque of Istanbul), the Şehzade Mosque, the Süleymaniye Mosque, and the Rüstem Pasha Mosque.”

So if I build a wider and taller Eiffel tower in Armenia, would that make it an Armenian engineered structure?

you must be as architecturally blind as your ancestors to not notice the similarities between the turkish mosques and st-sofia.

not to mention all the other mosques, which were pretty much just built over the already existing byzantine greek churches
