Dessertnomad

No , i did not , found it on the web . I would have done a bit better on the couscous plate , that plate does not like the Couscous plate i would present to my guest or family , mine looks much better but i liked the background et... the meat does not show inthe middle , the potato is not quatered , nor is the carrot , that plate is a disgrace but i could not find a better one when i had posted . I had found better ones later . but without the music instruments .. icon_smile.gif

I would have spent a few hours sampling here! Whenever I buy a bottle of olives for my father, I always eat it before leaving the coutry.

Mordoch

I think we got many recipes from the Ottoman empire when it was in North Africa . the Baklava is NOT an Arabic recipe , im sure it has been "borrowed" from the Turkish cuisine and we enjoy it very much .

I dont know much about the Turkish cuisine i must say but the Turkish recipe books look amazing . Im planning to visit Turkey in the future . My sister has been and she liked it very very much . I have also 2 neigbhours in my village who dumped their husbands and married 2 turkish guys . in fact these ladies did their fast Ramadan this year and were happy when i offered them the Fast calendar and box of dates each .. these ladies like the warmth, the hugging and kissing the life in a turkish household , they told me .. icon_smile.gif compared to the cold atmosphere they lived in . I wish them good luck and pray it works for them.

Exactly Mordoth I fully agree, Algerians are our real brothers, I know many Algerians here they are great people, (can be very lively, funny and sometimes cheeky from what I know with my friends icon_wink.gif )

Our history of the great Algerian and Turks goes way back, we united in Ottoman times and had a glorious period.

We even have Turkus which are traditional folklore songs about Algeria and look very warmly on our brothers and sisters and welcome you all to TURKIYE.

Nesreen our cusine has similarities with Algerian food, we all have certain Meze dishes, meat dishes, deserts, drinks etc so if you like Algerian flavours and tastes you'll like Turkish.

I know you have Harrisa? and Nesreen what is the name of that Special pot you have which you cook certain foods in, I think it is featured in the first image? We both like Ud instrument icon_biggrin.gif

Nesreen where would you recomment to visit Algeria is so vast, I hear Algiers is a beautiful city.

If you want to find out about where to visit and what to see in Turkey I'd be more than happy to help sister. icon_biggrin.gif

I will try and get as much information from you when im ready to travel . I have read about Fetye (spell?) and it looks the right place for holidays with kids . But i must visit Istanbul . I do not want to go to Turkey for the beach and pools and shopping , i want to visit the mosque and the amazing historical buildings and fabulous architecture . that s what i want to see .

Erdogan was on Al Jazeera a few minutes ago and i was amazed with his speech about all the social reforms he took in Turkey (about the financial help towards Kids education et.. )

Algiers is not too bad . But i tell you something , when i visited Algiers 20 years ago it was much better , cleaner and tidier ..
Still it is worth a visit . The Oil prices are certainly helping build more and more , 5 star hotels are coming up quite fast with the Chinese workers .
Apparently Chinese workers are faster and more efficient that the locals who do not want labour work and hard work icon_wink.gif by day the chinese are working at gov projects and by the end of day they are building private villas and somptuous homes at an amazing speed ..
