Oh my God - SO many places to see... I am in love with archeological artifacts and ancient ruins etc... I will definetly see if I can go there next summer... Do you think it is hard to get there from Nakhchewan?... I think that is the smartest route... icon_rolleyes.gif Any advice?

There are many many more ancients sites, I just wanted to give an idea what Armenia looks like. About you going to Armenia from Nakhchewan, I am not sure about that. I think the border is closed, but I could be wrong.

Then I suppose the smart thing is to go from Georgia? icon_rolleyes.gif

Brother - Armenia is beautiful... I wish to go there and sense/fell it's atmosphere - just like a spung that consumes all water it touches... I think one could grow very wise by making personal encounters with the "Past" - through artifacts, ancient sites and ruins...

Could you make a thread about what places you would suggest a person to go for experiencing Armenia? Like a tourist guide... icon_lol.gif

That could be one way. I don't know where you live to tell you the best way.

Diri, I came across this site, and there is an interesting story about an American who just recently came from Armenia. And he shares his experience from there. If you like you can check it out.

If you want to go from Turkey there is a direct flight from Istambul to Yerevan. But if you want to travel by land thrue Georgia is a good idea.

Totally awesome pictures yerevan. Thank you. Diri I gotta go there as well. icon_smile.gif I also want to see Ani. Is it difficult yerevan? I know it's just at the border so I just wondered. I do wish you could have it back and feel it must be difficult having to watch all those beautiful old churches going to ruin. I believe there's a lot of old mosques there as well? Very sad. Anyway I'm definitely toying with the idea of going. Are you sure you're not in the tourist industry yerevan? lol

Well, Ani used to be the capital of Armenia whick was also known "the city of thousand and one churches". Ani is currently under Turkish control so I'm not sure if it would be difficult to go there. certainly you can't go to Ani from Armenia because the borders are closed. But it is pretty difficuld all those historic churches and monuments destroyed. And yes, I'm pretty sure I'm not in a tourist industry. LoL.

Well please God yerevan it'll belong to Armenia once more and you can restore those beautiful ancient churches. I know the artifacts are gone for good and can never be replaced but at least the buildings will be restored. I hope and pray for that day.

I like the pictures of the countryside the best and that one of Mt. Ararat in particular.

Dîrî, you don't want to take the land route through Georgia. Trust me. Either fly from Istanbul or find some smugglers.

No problem, Yerevan.

Also found some site just randomly searching through google one day. Appears to be a VERY proud Armenians website icon_lol.gif

Nothing very special about that site. Just random pictures. By the way I recognize some of the girls in the pic towards the bottom of the page and they are not Armenian. Thanks for the pics, but the site is VERY far from a "proud Armenian site". I recognize some people from my High School and 4 of the pics are pics of Persian girls, so I imagine more pics of girls/guys are non-Armenian.

Sorry, just clicked the first couple of pics and realized that they were famous bodybuilders and folk singers, so I thought they were all famous Armenians. I mean't 'proud' as in slightly racist. The owner of the website is obviously racist... Thats so strange that you actually know some of the people in there. Are you sure that they aren't Persian Armenians? Anyways, if you know this girl: http://members.fortunecity.com/whitepride1...%5B1%5D_jpg.htm
then goddamn, you are one lucky man icon_lol.gif

Don't really know the people in the rest of the pics, but it looks like the creator of the site just put random pics of Armenians and non Armenians.

As i previously remarked ; IT IS STILL GUMRU .

- Hossy;
If those pigs were not around you ; " your nation has already been starved " . We know that ;
- Some Turkish goods and marks are being sold to Armenia despite there is no legal bond by black-marketing
- Human trafficking from Armenia to Turkiye still goes on . Some Armenian women are being abused in Turkiye
- Many armenian workers are being working illegally in Eastern provinces of Turkiye.

PEople who collect 1000 $; run to US , that is for sure .I 'm getting really sorry for those desperate ducks crying around as if Armenia is a really nice country of their own .

lol, hossy, cute mordy, not as cool as mordy though, but at least you're trying. *pat on back*

mordoth, you yourself just showed us that it says gyumri ..i have no idea where the hell you see gyumru...

even in russian, it says: Гюмри, which is gyumRI, and obviously, the armenian part of the sign says: գյումրի which translates to Kiumri in western, and Giumri in eastern

QUOTE
- Some Turkish goods and marks are being sold to Armenia despite there is no legal bond by black-marketing

yes, that is true, there are also armenian goods on sail in turkey, so then why do you have a blockade? it's stupid.

QUOTE
- Human trafficking from Armenia to Turkiye still goes on . Some Armenian women are being abused in Turkiye

though it is on a very small scale, it is true, and that is quite sad. there are a number of organisations trying to stop such illegal trade.

QUOTE
- Many armenian workers are being working illegally in Eastern provinces of Turkiye.

yes, the turkish government claims that 70 000 armenians work illegally in turkey, but there are probably only 15 thousand by some other estimates. but the reality is that there are some 4 million foreign workers of turkish citizenship working in europe, so ....

QUOTE
PEople who collect 1000 $; run to US , that is for sure

that was true before, but now that trend has almost completely stopped. infact, many armenians are beginning to move back to armenia. many persian armenians have been moving in because they are increasingly discriminated against in islamist iran.

many russian armenians are beginning to move back, now that they have made money, infact, many have already either moved their businesses to yerevan, or have at least opened branches there.

turk, from 1992 to 1994, armenia lived it's hardest years since the genocide. in 1988, there was an earthquake in Giumry, 25 000 people died, and 200 000 were left homeless. that was still being resolved at the time, and is still being fixed today. at the same time, there was a war in artsakh. and on top of that, turkey blockaded the country.

in the cities, we had a maximum of 5 hours of electricity per day. it was also the coldest winter in a while. many armenians cut down forests in order to survive. as a result, if you go to yerevan today, you would notice in some places, there is a weird lack of trees.(though there have been many efforts by the armenia tree project to grow them again)
the situation was the same, if not worse in azerbaijan.

in those days, our country was quite bad. but since 1995, armenia has grown in the double digit numbers, like 15% gdp increase for l10 years in a row. one of the highest of the CIS countries.

mordoth, one day, i think you should at least go visit armenia, go to artsakh (but ask them not to stamp your pass port or else you won't be able to go into azerbaijan lol) its worth seeing what you hate so much.
just like i would one day go to turkey, visit the land that was once ours, or go to baku (which is impossible, because i have artsakh on my passport, and azerbaijan does not allow ethnic armenians into it's land)

but understand this. no one claims armenia is a major superpower, no armenian thinks armenia will take over the entire caucasus or what ever you may think. infact, few armenians (including myself) think we will regain 1918 armenia, or wilsonian armenia. but we love our country none the less, that is what makes you a true patriot. when you see the good, you see the bad, you assess, and after all that, you still love your country.

btw, you can see gyumri airport in the back ground. i am one of many who believe that in future economic developpement, gyumri should be the economic hub of armenia, and the caucasus

Wow Hayastan is one of the most beautiful countries, although it's quite small (without the Armenian land in Anatolia). I love the architecture icon_eek.gif

yes, that is true, there are also armenian goods on sail in turkey, so then why do you have a blockade? it's stupid.

Gümrü ; ( Pron : Geumreu ) means " the border , frontier " in ancient Turkish , thanks to bear - origined Russians for not correlating the Turkish word with another Russian word .
There are Turkish goods sold in Armenia , i 've seen that some men were selling them .

e.g. goods of Ülker A.Ş. ( Ulker Corporation )

I'm sure Turkish goods going to Armenia DOMINATE the ones coming from Armenia .
QUOTE
though it is on a very small scale, it is true, and that is quite sad. there are a number of organisations trying to stop such illegal trade.
Agreed

QUOTE
yes, the turkish government claims that 70 000 armenians work illegally in turkey, but there are probably only 15 thousand by some other estimates. but the reality is that there are some 4 million foreign workers of turkish citizenship working in europe, so ....

They are the men who are Abused by Kurdish investers in the region . There are other Turkish citizens hanging around unemployed , because Armenians are used to take little money unlike Turks . It is an abusement . ( Those men shall go to ameriga , canada when 1000 $ is collected and defend Armocide later )
Most of Turks in foreign lands work legally . Their visas and tickets are assigned .

QUOTE
that was true before, but now that trend has almost completely stopped. infact, many armenians are beginning to move back to armenia. many persian armenians have been moving in because they are increasingly discriminated against in islamist iran.

Iran discriminates every non-Persian origined people .
Balojees , Afghans , Azeri Turks , Zazas , Uzbeks , Azeris ...etc are also squeezed .
QUOTE
many russian armenians are beginning to move back, now that they have made money, infact, many have already either moved their businesses to yerevan, or have at least opened branches there.

That's good for them . But outgoing men dominate incoming Armenians , don't they ?

QUOTE
turk, from 1992 to 1994, armenia lived it's hardest years since the genocide. in 1988, there was an earthquake in Giumry, 25 000 people died, and 200 000 were left homeless. that was still being resolved at the time, and is still being fixed today. at the same time, there was a war in artsakh. and on top of that, turkey blockaded the country.
In Gumru , Turkish Red-Crescent sent its civil engineers and guards to save and cure men injured .
( Turgut Ozal , the 8th president of Turkiye , has opened the TURKO-armenian border. After his death, the border is closed again )
QUOTE
in the cities, we had a maximum of 5 hours of electricity per day. it was also the coldest winter in a while. many armenians cut down forests in order to survive. as a result, if you go to yerevan today, you would notice in some places, there is a weird lack of trees.(though there have been many efforts by the armenia tree project to grow them again)
the situation was the same, if not worse in azerbaijan.

That 's bad .
If Armenians were not that pig-headed men and extra-nationalists ; Turks and Armenians were obviously in trade .
Turks were possibly opened the border and either Turks and Armenians gather the profits .

It is an IMPERIALIST TACTIC to seperate the " nations lived for hundreds of years in peace " .

e.g. Serbs - Bosniaks - Croats
My Great grandfather told my parents that they were grown - played with Christian children in same village

e.g. Arabs - Turks
e.g. Armenians - Greeks - Bulgarians - Albanians - Turks
e.g. Greek and Turkish Cypriots

Now what they try to do is to seperate Kurds - Assyrians and Turks . ( Imperialists did that in Iraq and we see the countless corpses flying around in Baghdad )

But since , you Armenians ( you are not an Armenian ) are that pig-headed and EUtophic men ; no peace shall be obtained .
QUOTE
in those days, our country was quite bad. but since 1995, armenia has grown in the double digit numbers, like 15% gdp increase for l10 years in a row. one of the highest of the CIS countries.

Good news , i hope that's true . But economical counts and terms are somehow " deceiving ".
( they say many things about Turkiye , but i personally do not see a simple increase in my salary . )
QUOTE
mordoth, one day, i think you should at least go visit armenia, go to artsakh (but ask them not to stamp your pass port or else you won't be able to go into azerbaijan lol) its worth seeing what you hate so much.
just like i would one day go to turkey, visit the land that was once ours, or go to baku (which is impossible, because i have artsakh on my passport, and azerbaijan does not allow ethnic armenians into it's land)
I do not hate armenians but i do not like armenians .
"Lands were Once ours " ? Where are they ?
I get that as modern-day Armenian terrains belonged to Turks .
You can go to Azerbaidjan , but since Armenian occupied Karabagh is not recognized by someone . Possible, they won't let you to pass .
QUOTE
but understand this. no one claims armenia is a major superpower, no armenian thinks armenia will take over the entire caucasus or what ever you may think. infact, few armenians (including myself) think we will regain 1918 armenia, or wilsonian armenia. but we love our country none the less, that is what makes you a true patriot. when you see the good, you see the bad, you assess, and after all that, you still love your country.

btw, you can see gyumri airport in the back ground. i am one of many who believe that in future economic developpement, gyumri should be the economic hub of armenia, and the caucasus

Armenia CECEDE lands the Turkish lands with the political recognition of socalled Armocide ( as if we are living in 13th century , lol )
Ironically , your method that is to act like an innocent , demeaning , desperate man is not that bad .

I say that ; Turks shall seize the Power in Caucasus by uniting Turks in the region . That is our ideal , one problem is that Turkiye do not have a political programme that is based upon TURAN .But Turkiye also does not oppose Turan icon_neutral.gif

Armenians might have a hub of their own , indeed , but at least one step forward for peace shall aid both of us . Insulation and Isolations might be " abolished " but Armenians should be REALIST rather than being OPPORTUNIST .

lets not play games..gyumri was always an armenian city, (well, it was once a village) before the turks even started to invade the region.

that would not surprise me. turkey is a much larger country, and thus has a larger economy.

i would rather them be living in armenia, and making a decent living rather then forced to work for kurds and turks. and most turks in germany are illegal immigrants, and that has become a great problem there.

as i have told you before, that trend has almost completely stopped, infact, the armenian population will begin to grow substantially by 2010

if by that location you mean gyumri, then i heard about that, but that was during soviet times.
if defending what little is left of your country, seperated by turkish, soviet and persian emperialists, against a mongolic enemy is your view of 'extra-nationalism' i can't wait to see your views on the grey wolves. the reality is that your blockade is illegal, and the only reason why no sanctions have been placed on you is because you are a friend to the west.

QUOTE

yah yah...but the question is...who are the imperialists??? the ottomans by any chance?

QUOTE
you are not an Armenian

i am as armenian as you are a turk, if not more

QUOTE
they say many things about Turkiye , but i personally do not see a simple increase in my salary

rise in gdp levels does not directly affect an engineer's salary.

QUOTE
I do not hate armenians but i do not like armenians .

your view keeps changing...but what ever...i do not hate, or 'not like' turks, i do not like turkey. and turks who believe in your turkey.

QUOTE
"Lands were Once ours " ? Where are they ?

anatolia, being lived on by turks and kurds...are you acting stupid or are you?

QUOTE
I get that as modern-day Armenian terrains belonged to Turks .

no, you got it mixed up, modern-day turkey's terrains belong to armenia.

QUOTE
You can go to Azerbaidjan , but since Armenian occupied Karabagh is not recognized by someone . Possible, they won't let you to pass .

no.

1) azerbaijan does not allow ethnic armenians into azerbaijan. since i am armenian, i cannot go. my cousin was on a plane that, for weather reasons was diverted to baku, and all the armenians in the plane were arrested on it...even though they did not plan on going to azerbaijan. the armenian national football team was not allowed to go to play a match in azerbaijan, even though armenia did not mind playing the second match in armenia.
the famous turkish singer that won the eurovision a few years ago, has a pianist on his crew, from bolis, of ethnic armenian ancestry. he was not allowed into azerbaijan.

2) my passport has artsakh on it...and even though it is unrecognised, i had no trouble getting into and out of any other country in the world.

but once again i ask you to at least come visit the armenians.

"Ironically , your method that is to act like an innocent , demeaning , desperate man is not that bad ."

lol mordoth, im not joking around with you. we were here before any of you turanic imbeciles, all we want is to live in our land. we are not expansionists, we are not murderers, we are not racists, we are not aryan supremacists, or facsists, or communists, or pro anything. we are armenian, and we deserve to live in peace,in our land. after 5000 years of suffering and fighting for it

and i said gyumri should be an economic hub...you know....like a business district..sorta like dubai in a smaller scale.
